The systems are mostly from Perkin Elmer, Waters, Bruker, PerSeptive Biosystems and Shandon Lipshaw. | Mar 99 | Project Manager |
| I managed three separate groups. I was responsible for project
management, Web services and R&D training. A brief description of each
of these teams follows: Project Management - Worked as acting project manager for a component of network monitoring software. Responsible for creating and maintaining all of the standard project requirements. This required working with other departments on the business case, project requirements and project plan. This included supervising a team of nine developers. I also ensured that adequate hardware and software was available for development and testing. I managed the complete Alpha test of the product. This project was taken over by a permanent full time project manager. Web Services - Responsible for receiving specifications for different projects and implementing them. This included managing the current staff and hiring consultants as needed. There were approximately six projects in progress at one time. Completed projects included company building maps that will display the office of an employee and their pertinent data. This includes their name, manager, cost center, project, etc. We also created a Web-based resource reservation system that allows any employee to book conference rooms, computers and audio-visual equipment on the Intranet. This was important because of our many remote locations. R&D Training - Working with managers and directors to determine training requirements. Once we knew what type of training was required, I would locate an appropriate instructor and set up or purchase the course materials. Booking rooms and setting up audio visual equipment and arranging for refreshments and lunch was also part of this position. Costs were paid out of my cost center and I billed back to the managers and directors. | |
